Conference “Data Protection Day — 2026. European Approach to Data Governance: Trust, Protection and Innovation”

28 January is observed worldwide as Data Protection Day. On this occasion, on 28 January 2026, Lviv Polytechnic National University, with the support of the European Union and within the framework of the international Jean Monnet Module “European Data Strategy: Data Governance for New Opportunities”, is organising a conference for CEOs, CIOs, CCOs, DPOs, information security officers, risk managers, HR managers, business analysts and legal professionals from IT, insurance and telecommunications companies, as well as from the banking sector.

The conference will be held online using the Microsoft Teams platform.

The main objective of the event is to discuss the European approach to data governance, to consider how personal data protection requirements can be combined with the development of data as an economic resource, and to analyse the current state of GDPR implementation in Ukraine, including the identification of practical challenges, exchange of experience, and discussion of successful cases of integrating European regulatory requirements into business processes.

🎯 Objectives of the Conference:

  • to promote in Ukraine the European principles of data governance, including personal data protection, accountability and transparency;
  • to facilitate the exchange of practical experience in implementing GDPR, the Data Governance Act and the Data Act across different sectors and countries;
  • to discuss the role of trust and regulatory compliance as drivers of innovation in data-based solutions, including in the fields of Big Data and artificial intelligence;
  • to identify specific aspects of compliance with European data regulations by IT companies during the development of analytical and intelligent systems and in the organisation of remote work;
  • to provide advisory support to companies working with clients who are EU citizens in order to reduce legal, financial and reputational risks.
